The Nationalist Party holds their annual assembly at the Teatro Campo Alegre in Caguas and demands the removal of American bishops Willinger and Byrne.

Ponce Massacre: Police Kill 19 and Wound over 100 Nationalists
Events known as the Ponce Massacre take place. Puerto Rican Nationalist members hold a parade to commemorate Palm Sunday. This parade comes to an abrupt end when Police open fire killing 19 persons and wounding more than a hundred.

May 13 - Arthur Garfield Hays, representing the American Civil Liberties Union, arrives in Puerto Rico to study the Ponce Massacre events.
May 22- Hays reads the findings of his report, known as the Hays Commission, at the Plaza de Armas in San Juan.

Muñoz Marín Breaks from the Partido Liberal
June 4 - Luis Muñoz Marín and almost a hundred followers meet in Barranquitas to establish the Partido Liberal, Neto, Auténtico y Completo to promote independence and social justice.
June 13- Muñoz Marín is officially expelled from the Partido Liberal.
